What it is

A methylene-bridged bisphenol, one of the common BPA replacement chemicals.

What it does

Used in epoxy resins, coatings, and some food packaging.

Why it’s a concern

Studies consistently show BPF exerts estrogenic activity comparable to BPA. A 2018 review (Eladak et al., Fertility and Sterility) concluded that bisphenol substitutes including BPF are not safer alternatives. Also detected in urine biomonitoring worldwide.
