A brominated fluorescein dye with bright pink fluorescence.
What it does
Colourant in lipsticks and some toothpastes.
Why it’s a concern
Contains bromine as part of the molecule; can cause contact sensitisation and photosensitivity in some individuals. Older literature documents allergic cheilitis from lipstick use. Long-term ingestion safety is limited by available data.
