Chemical UV filter in sunscreens, often combined with avobenzone and homosalate.
Why it’s a concern
Demonstrated systemic absorption above FDA safety-review thresholds in the 2020 MUsT study. In vitro data suggest weak endocrine activity. Allergic contact dermatitis is reported but uncommon. Restricted in some EU formulas pending further evaluation of aggregate salicylate exposure.
