Provides musky fragrance notes in cosmetics, soap, and laundry products.
Why it’s a concern
Classified as very persistent and very bioaccumulative by the Nordic Council assessments. Present in human fat and milk samples and in surface waters worldwide. In vitro assays suggest weak estrogenic and antiandrogenic activity.
