New Zealand drinking water is regulated by Taumata Arowai. Most urban supplies are chlorinated and safe. Main concerns are disinfection byproducts and historic lead plumbing in older homes. Some small rural supplies have had compliance issues. A carbon filter handles chlorine; test well water annually if on a private supply.
